After all the games, all the upsets, the Top 2 ranked teams (TABC rankings) in the state meet for the right to hoist the 6A State Championship trophy. Cypress Creek was 41-0 last year heading into the State Championship before losing to Duncanville. A lot of the 2019-20 Frisco Liberty team returned but the team only finished third in 9-5A behind state-ranked Frisco Lone Star and Frisco Memorial. AdThrough a strong defensive mindset, Liberty is back at the State Championship game - marking its third straight trip to the finals.

The Cypress Creek Cougars had a nice season in 2019-20 going 24-12 and 13-3 in district play. If DJ Richards has anything to do with it, the Cougars will have a big year. The 6-foot-5 combo guard will have some assistance for Jaylen Wysinger and Braylon Haynes. Wysinger moved in from St. Pius X, while Haynes and Corey Hadnott add much-needed depth to take down the likes of Memorial and Cy-Fair.

The University of Texas-signees are back for their senior year and will pace this team. The TABC All-State selections led the team in scoring as Hunter averaged 20 points per game, while Harmon averaged 15.6 points per night. Taylor Jackson returns for her senior year as well after averaging 9.1 points and 6.9 rebounds per game last season. Other key returners include Ri'yah Francis (4.6 ppg, 3.8 rpg) and Krishawn Lee, who played in 34 games last season as a freshman.

Nealy initially filed the complaint of employee theft with HCSO after Channel 2 Investigates had a van’s breaks fixed at the ambulance maintenance facility with $100 cash. Channel 2 Investigates also uncovered a series of invoices on the official Cypress Creek EMS account that included various parts for cars and trucks not in the Cypress Creek EMS fleet.
