The trial is set to begin in the next few weeks and will include participants who are under the age of 18. Moderna is also about to begin a trial with children under the age of 12. Hasan says other drug companies are also about to begin trials as well. It’s the one that they best fit into based off of their age, based off their demographic, and based off their medical history,” Hasan said.

Phase three of trials for the Moderna vaccine requires up to 30,000 people nationally. DM Clinical Research in Tomball and Texas Center for Drug Development in Houston are looking for 1,000 people locally to take part. In order to show that the vaccine is safe and effective in every group, we need every group to participate, she said. We are looking for people 18 and up to be a part of these studies, said Sarah Hasan, patient recruitment lead at DM Clinical Research.
