Former Texas A&M quarterback Zach Calzada is transferring to Auburn.

HOUSTON – Engraved on the inside of North Shore’s most recent State Championship ring are three words surrounding a cleat.

Cade Klubnik is not just QB1 for defending back-to-back state champion Austin Westlake, the No. 2-ranked team in the nation. The Clemson commit is also the No. 1 quarterback in the Class of 2022 per 247Sports, a five-star recruit, and the recently named Gatorade Texas Football Player of the Year.

HOUSTON – In the past Class 6A Division I Region III has been considered by many to be one of the toughest regions to get out of in the state.

Just a few months ago, Shadrach Banks and the North Shore Mustangs fell one yard short of advances to the 6A State Championship for the third consecutive year. The nucleus on that team was QB Dematrius Davis (Auburn), OL Jaeden Roberts (Alabama) and WR Shadrach Banks (Texas A&M). All three graduated earlier and were on campus this spring at their respective schools.

For the Greater Houston area, the hopes of bringing home a state championship lies with Crosby, Katy and North Shore. The atmosphere at the game last week was awesome and the week before and even when we played at SFA. That year, Buda Hays reached the 5A Division I State Championship game where they fell to Grapevine. But then late, North Shore pulls away for the victory and punches their ticket to a third-straight state title game.

HOUSTON – When North Shore looks nearly flawless on gameday it's not by mistake. "These kids lift five days a week and they are constantly in the weight room," North Shore coach Jon Kay said. North Shore is in the State Semifinals for a third consecutive season – the last two winning the Class 6A Division I State Championship over Duncanville. The two have become the faces of North Shore football since they were freshmen. North Shore won that 21-14 in overtime inside NRG Stadium for what was then the program's second-ever state title.

Over the past three seasons, North Shore has amassed an overall record of 45-1 and has won 16-straight playoff games dating back to 2018.

HOUSTON - Whenever athletes are set to graduate early from North Shore High School, Jon Kay always makes sure that they get their well-deserved celebration. Last week, quarterback Dematrius Davis and receiver Shadrach Banks sat at a table on the sideline of Galena Park ISD Stadium with their teammates sitting behind them to celebrate their accomplishment. Davis signed with Auburn, while Banks signed with Texas A&M - both in the SEC. H-Town High School Sports host Todd Freed was on-hand for the signing and caught up with the newly-minted Tiger and Aggie.

HOUSTON – National Signing Day has arrived once again as high school football players across the country signed on with their college of choice. The system is now in place for a December date along with the first Wednesday in February that has become a smaller event than in years past. As more high school athletes now aim for early graduation, the December option gives them a chance to enroll in college in January for the spring semester and take part in spring football camps. Seven Lakes' Ally Batenhorst is the all-time best volleyball player in the history of Houston. "Ally didn't really like contact, so basketball wasn't her thing," dad Kurt Batenhorst , who played college at Nebraska Wesleyen laughed. She's pretty dominant. "Her best friends are from volleyball – high school and club.

Banks was featured in the North Shore offense as usual at wide receiver, showing his strength off multiple times. We won't get De La Salle versus North Shore. It was always known that in 2021, North Shore and Shadow Creek would play against each other at Freedom Field. The last two years we got East Side (North Shore) vs West Side (Katy) - which was split. In this meeting, Shadow Creek would try and extend its winning streak to 17-straight and, oh yeah, 32 wins out of the last 33 games played. North Shore would look to improve to the same record 32-1 in its last 33 games played.
