Various distribution sites pop up daily, so please keep checking this list if you’re in need. Houston Community College-North Forest CampusTexas State Representative Senfronia Thompson, NACC Disaster Services, Teamsters Union, Houston Community College (HCC)- North Forest campus, HCC Trustee Rhonda Skillern-Jones, Peoples United Summit, and other volunteer groups host water and food distribution in northeast Houston. The organizers will provide food and water for about 1,000 vehicles. Pet owners will receive free pet food, supplies, and information on additional resources such as the Houston Humane Society’s free spay/neuter program.

The parking lot hosted a food distribution site that offered 400 boxes of produce to area families, including Lorena Perez. The farms provide food for La Porte ISD year-round, through The Common Market Texas, an organization that pushes sustainable farming. “We’re going to be able to feed thousands of people by the end of the week,” said Margo Robertson, outreach coordinator at The Common Market Texas. Robertson said 1,000 boxes total were donated and they’ll be distributed throughout the area, helping area families as well as farms.

All campus curbside pickup locations will over seven days work for student meals on Thursday, November 19. Typically, the district provides meals for three or four days. Additionally, a third Neighborhood Supersites will be held at Sugar Grove Academy on Saturday, November 21— the final community distribution before Thanksgiving. Campus and community distributions will resume their normal schedules when the district reopens on Monday, Nov. 30.

Imagen Venues joined the USDA’s Farmers-to-Families Food Box program to distribute milk and produce to families every Thursday during the summer. “We are serving about 3,000 families every Thursday which turns into we’ve served about 17,000-21,000 families since we started this project in June,” said Weed. The food distribution site will give three gallons of milk and two crates of fruits and vegetables to each car. Amanda Ruiz told KPRC 2 that she has visited the food distribution every Thursday and is grateful for the community support.

Houston Food Bank and the Houston Independent School District organized the distribution site, feeding over 3,000 families, officials said. Officials closed the gate to the site once the organizers ran out of food, a few hours after opening the site to the public. “When you have to close out the line and say there is no more, your heart goes out because you wondering what’s going to happen," said HISD Superintendent Grenita Lathan. “We will re-open on Monday, but still, that’s two days away.”Those looking for help can visit houstonfoodbank.org/COVID19 or call the help hotline at 832-369-9390 to locate other food pantries.

HISD Nutrition Services staff will assemble the meals at the Hexser T. Holliday Food Services Support Facility and then deliver them daily to each of the distribution sites. The district said each location can distribute up to 500 bags or 15,000 pounds of food per day. Staff will have minimal contact with families by placing food in their trunks.
