CHANNELVIEW, Texas – An Amtrak train crashed into an SUV on Wednesday in Channelview, according to Harris County Sheriff’s Office. According to deputies, the railroad arms were activated and there were two cars stopped at the crossing. The SUV went around the waiting cars and the approaching passenger train struck the vehicle. FORT BEND COUNTY, Texas – High winds made it tough for firefighters to battle a mulch fire in Fort Bend County. The Richmond Fire Department was called out to the scene on Highway 90 and Pitts Road around 6 p.m. Monday. Firefighters found a large mound of mulch that appeared to have self-combusted from the inside. The strong winds carried embers to other nearby mounds. The winds in the area have since subsided.
