As part of the I-610 West Loop/ I-69 Southwest Freeway interchange project, the Texas Department of Transportation will close all northbound and southbound mainlanes of I-69 Southwest Freeway at I-610 West Loop on Friday at 8 p.m. until Monday at 5 a.m.

The Texas Department of Transportation announced Sunday the reopening of the Southwest Freeway at I-610 West Loop after weekend road construction wrapped up early.

The new I-69 northbound connector ramp to I-610 southbound was recently opened. Currently, crews are working on the demolition of the old I-69 northbound connector ramp to I-610 southbound. This will allow for the work to progress on the IH 610 northbound to IH 69 southbound connector. The new I-610 southbound exit to Fournace and the new I-610 southbound entrance ramp from Hildalgo/ Westheimer opened earlier this summer. Major work for the IH 610 northbound to I-69 southbound connector ramp and the I-610 southbound to I-69 northbound connector ramp will continue.

HOUSTON – Drivers and small business owners are bracing for the impact of a major construction closure that starts Friday. All I-610 West Loop northbound and southbound lanes at I-69 will be closed. Motorists traveling northbound on I-610 West Loop northbound will detour to I-610 frontage road to re-enter the mainlanes of I-610 northbound. Motorists traveling southbound on I-610 West Loop will detour to I-69 southbound, exit at Chimney Rock, U-turn at Chimney Rock to reach the I-69 northbound mainlanes, and take the direct connector from I-69 northbound to I-610 southbound.
