With a late Thanksgiving, the holiday shopping season is five days shorter than last year, and owners of small retail shops say that people have been quick to snap up holiday décor early, along with gifts for others and themselves.

HOUSTON, Texas A man was injured after a car crashed into a northeast Houston hair salon Friday morning, Houston police said. The crash occurred around 4:55 a.m. Friday in the 5900 block of Tidwell Road, according to the Houston Police Department. The car crashed into the back of the hair salon, causing extensive damage to the building. One man in the vehicle was cut from the wreckage and transported to an area trauma center.
