Firefighters battling a stubborn California wildfire near the Lake Tahoe resort region are facing gusty winds and dry conditions that make vegetation ready to burn.

Crews are digging in and burning out fire lines amid fears that another round of high winds will bring renewed fury to a Northern California wildfire.

HOUSTON – Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner’s long-time friend and special advisor, Keith Wade, died Thursday, the mayor’s office confirmed to KPRC 2. Remembered as a mainstay in Houston politics, Wade spent his career behind the scenes, working with some of Houston’s most prominent leaders.
