When deputies arrived at the scene, they found a woman dead inside a burned vehicle across the road from the residence. HOUSTON – With the help of the Parish Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Marshal’s Service, a Louisiana man facing murder charges was arrested Tuesday morning, according to the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office. The discovery was made at 1:30 p.m. when a passing motorist saw McGinnes, deputies said. After further investigation, it was determined Davis was tied to the shooting and identified as a suspect in the case, deputies said. Davis is expected to be transported to Texas Tuesday where he will be held at the Liberty County Jail. LIBERTY COUNTY, Texas – Three people were injured in a shooting at a sandbar beach area in Liberty County late Saturday night, according to the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office. The shooting happened around 11 p.m. Saturday at a sandbar beach area off CR 644 on the Trinity River in south Liberty County. One woman was struck in the stomach, another was struck in the hip and another was struck in the eye, according to the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office. All three victims were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening shotgun wounds, according to the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office. A man who made a frantic call to the Liberty County Sheriff’s Dispatcher was later found dead inside his mobile home Monday afternoon, according to Liberty County Sheriff’s Office. The call was made around 1 p.m. from Aiden Walker, who said he’d been shot eight times at his home in the Plum Grove area, deputies said. After interviewing witnesses, deputies were able to identify the suspect’s vehicle. Around 3:30 p.m., deputies said the suspect, Samuel F. Depina, turned himself in and was taken into custody. Depina was booked into the Liberty County Jail.

HOUSTON – Officials are investigating after an Amtrak train collided with a cement mixing truck in the Eastgate area of Liberty County, according to the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office. The wreck happened just after 1 p.m. and the driver of the truck was hospitalized with minor injuries, according to the LCSO. Amtrak officials say the train involved in the wreck is one that operates three times a week between Los Angeles and New Orleans. There were 78 passengers and 12 crew members on board at the time of the crash. “There were no injuries aboard the train to our customers or our crew,” Amtrak officials wrote in a statement to KPRC 2.
