From lost birthday cards to cashiers’ checks stuck in limbo, the complaints are growing louder as postal service issues persist.

HOUSTON – Have you had a package stolen last year? A survey from C+R Research indicated that package thefts sharply rose from 36% to 43% in 2020, with two-thirds of the respondents saying they had their packages stolen more than once. When it comes to protecting their deliveries, 69% of consumers stayed home to receive deliveries. Other consumers opted for in-store pickup, shopping in-store and requesting signatures for deliveries. The survey used Amazon’s survey platform to screen 2,000 self-reported online consumers who have shopped online within the last 12 months.

Amazon says coronavirus is hampering its ability to meet some customers' needs. The e-commerce giant said in a blog post Saturday that there has been a surge in online shopping as the coronavirus outbreak spreads — and it's weighing on the company. Amazon has also had to grapple with sellers on its site trying to capitalize on the outbreak inappropriately. Earlier this month, Amazon said it pulled more than 1 million products for price gouging or falsely advertising effectiveness against the coronavirus. “We actively monitor our store and remove offers that violate our policy,” the company said in its blog post this weekend.

HOUSTON – Dozens of packages and letters were dumped on the side of the freeway Monday night in Liberty County. Postal metal crates lying in the middle of the freeway. Witnesses say the postal driver did not stop when the crates fell off. Postal inspectors were called, and then deputies put the mail back into the containers and called a wrecker to haul it away. We can confirm that a contract driver did experience an incident where some mail fell from a trailer, but all mail was quickly retrieved, secured and taken to the N. Houston Processing and Distribution facility for processing.”
