Down south in District 23-6A is an emerging baseball program under the direction of Chris Turner. It's a tough district with Pearland, Shadow Creek, and Strake Jesuit all chasing the crown, but it appears that Dawson is the deepest in talent. The Eagles have some history, now… Don't forget, Dawson reached State in 2014 and hopes to get back in the conversation with a balanced lineup. The infield will be on lock with Zachary Mack, Cole Sebok, Ross Mingarelli, Hayden Curry, and Hayden Winsdor across the diamond. In one of the biggest matchups of the season in Texas high school football, the Katy Tigers did what they do best: put on a show. The Tigers' defensive unit complemented Koger's performance by holding Shadow Creek to zero offensive touchdowns in the first half. Despite a bumpy first half that consisted of penalties, personal fouls, and being scored on numerous times, Shadow Creek played a respectable second half, as they tied with Katy 14-14. As for Shadow Creek, they're in good hands. With all talent being accounted for, it is likely that Katy and Shadow Creek will meet in the Regional Finals in the seasons to come, just as Katy did with North Shore for four years in a row (2016-2019).

Across all of their programs, Shadow Creek has seen some spectacular success early on. Oklahoma-signee Bre'yon White leads the crew averaging 13 points and 8 rebounds per game. White was the District 24-5A Defensive MVP, while Taylor was the District 24-5A Co-MVP. Other key returners include first-team, all-district picks Brooklin Brown (7.4 points and 3.4 rebounds per game) and Da'Nae Williams (8.4 points and 1.9 rebounds per game). Also watch for Riachel Anderson, who was a second-team, all-district pick, averaging 5.7 points and 5.1 rebounds per game.

In the end, it was the St. Thomas quarterback who nailed the final throw to win the challenge, get the Golden Gun Jersey and propel his name up the Elite 11 rankings. The quarterbacks are set to hit the field again tonight at 6 p.m. for Day 2 of the Elite 11, with the camp wrapping up on Wednesday.

We won't get De La Salle versus North Shore. It was always known that in 2021, North Shore and Shadow Creek would play against each other at Freedom Field. The last two years we got East Side (North Shore) vs West Side (Katy) - which was split. In this meeting, Shadow Creek would try and extend its winning streak to 17-straight and, oh yeah, 32 wins out of the last 33 games played. North Shore would look to improve to the same record 32-1 in its last 33 games played.
