More than 60 children from Houston’s Fifth Ward community enjoyed the wonders of Minute Maid Park as Sister 2 Sistah, Union Pacific Railroad and District B joined forces to help bring a “grand slam” finish to their summer vacation.

Denny’s joined forces with two Houston-based organizations to give back to the community. The first of two events, Take Me Out to the Ballgame, was hosted by Sister 2 Sistah and the second event, Back 2 School Basketball Camp, took place on August 3.

Tiffany Collins, head coach of the girls basketball team at Willowridge High School, and her “Lady Eagles” squad were honored for a hard-fought season which earned them the nickname of Fort Bend ISD’s “Cinderella Story.”

Sister 2 Sistah co-founders Rebecca Briscoe and Nakia Cooper are on a mission to bring the love of baseball back to African American households. It is a personal mission, after the two working mothers saw a lack of diversity on the fields and in the stands at Major League Baseball games.
