Oftentimes when people think of historically Black colleges and universities, the high-energy and electric bands are at the forefront of their minds.

Thousands of fans crowded NRG Stadium Saturday to celebrate historically Black college and university marching bands participating in the Pepsi National Battle of the Bands.

Houstons best and brightest stars asking people to mask up in the fight against COVID-19. The most decorated World Champion in gymnastics and Olympic Gold Medalist, Simone Biles, and other big names were roped in as ambassadors in Houston Mayor Sylvester Turners Mask Up Houston campaign. Biles, along with Houston Astros Carlos Correa and rapper Slim Thug, who is also a COVID-19 survivor, are offering their resources to spread safety information to Houstonians. Galveston Island Beach Patrol has said beach crowds have been larger than usual since reopening after pandemic closures, however some say the beach was unusually crowded this weekend. Busy weekend in Galveston, Texas. Not totally unusual for summer but way more than normal for a random weekend in early June. Kappa weekend also brought people out to Galveston. Protests continued over the weekend, contributing to the busyness in Galveston.
