Friday cold front brings weekend weather changes to SE Texas!

After almost breaking a record Thursday afternoon with temperatures hitting 80 degrees in Houston, winter is back. The weather is now cloudy, chilly, and damp. Jackets and umbrellas are a must as scattered showers and chilly temperatures will last all of Friday. Expect seasonable weather for Super Bowl Weekend. The long-range forecast features a cold front next week that could bring in a cold winter blast for next week.

Cooler air is spilling into Southeast Texas and temperatures are dipping to the coldest we’ve seen in a few weeks! After waking up to temperatures in the mid 30s to low 40s, Thursday afternoon will be chilly in the upper 50s to low 60s. A cold front could trigger a few light rain showers Saturday afternoon and evening but no significant rain is expected. Temperatures ahead of the front will be warm in the 70s Saturday afternoon and cooler behind the front in the 60s Sunday afternoon. Overall weekend weather looks pleasant and features more sunshine compared to last weekend.

HOUSTON – Cold air has settled into Southeast Texas and will be sticking around for a while. We are in the beginning of the longest stretch of cold weather that has hit Houston so far this season. As we head into late Sunday, temperatures will start to drop and wintry precipitation will be getting close to Southeast Texas! Sunday NightAccumulations will be insignificant in Southeast Texas but snow will accumulate north and northwest of our area. Weekend Travel WeatherAfter Sunday’s rain/snow mix event, the rest of the ten day forecast shows a cooler than normal start with plenty of sunshine for the week ahead.

HOUSTON – The rain should wrap up later in the evening and cooler air will take most of the night to move in. Expect some patchy dense fog early tomorrow with temperatures falling into the 50s. Mostly sunny skies will return by the afternoon with highs in the mid 60s. Sunshine will return tomorrow afternoonTemperatures will be cooler behind Friday’s front with 60s returning this weekend. Saturday will be the drier half of the weekend with another front moving through on Sunday bringing in another round of showers.

Sunshine is breaking through and we’ll see mostly sunny skies through the afternoon. We’ll also see a return to the 60s for high temperatures for the first time in several days! Winds are turning back onshore and with a southeast breeze moisture is slowly and surely returning to Southeast Texas. Expect a warm and slightly more humid Thursday afternoon.
