Although we will have seasonable afternoon temperatures close to 90 degrees Friday afternoon, lower humidity will be a treat. Friday’s wet weather is complements of a low pressure system drifting slowly westward through the Gulf of Mexico. It will stay south of Houston, but the rain associated with it will clip the region, especially between the coast to I-10Friday FuturecastThe rain will move inland from the coast this morning. Metro Houston will get most of its rain between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Areas west of Houston will see showers between noon and 3 p.m. Early to mid-morning rain will be confined to coastal areas of southeast TexasMid-day rain will impact the coast northward to Metro Houston.

Storms for Mon-Tue before more heat moves in late weekFor today plan to drink plenty of water as the actual temperature heads fairly quickly into the upper 80s and low 90s before topping out in the upper 90s this afternoon. Sunday 10-day forecastThe rain chances increase as we start the week into Wednesday, which will drop our high temperatures into the low 90s for a couple of days. We start drying out by Wednesday and that means the temperatures will head back up to the upper 90s by next weekend.

The high today on Galveston Island will be a few degrees cooler than the normal of 66 for this time of the year and accompanied by mostly sunny skies. That sets up the next rain for our region which as of right now looks like a Monday morning through early afternoon passage. Expected rain amounts will be meager with half and inch to an inch and a half through Tuesday morning. Last week of February ten day forecast (KPRC)The cooler temperatures, including some 30s by the end of next week, will be accompanied by enough sunshine to make for a very pleasant last week of February!

Low 70s tomorrow with some patchy sunshine then we’re forecast to reach the mid to upper 70s during the Monday-Tuesday time period. Then come Wednesday and Thursday and the return of winter temperatures. We’ll see cloudy skies, scattered showers and a temperature drop from a high on Tuesday in the mid to upper 70s to the 60s and 50s on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. The good news is that as quickly as winter dips in, it dips back out and by next weekend, the second weekend of Mardi Gras, our temperatures will back near normal with little or no rain forecast.
