A former officer who was fired by the Texas City Police Department after a video of a traffic stop at Buc-ee’s in April 2023 went viral will not face charges.

Officials with Texas City Police Department said a woman whose 76-year-old mother was found dead inside her home was arrested for murder.

The man who the officer was trying to arrest spoke to KPRC 2 Friday.

A Texas City police officer at the center of a controversial and viral Buc-ee’s traffic stop in April has been terminated following the investigation, according to the Texas City Police Department.

According to the Texas City Police Department, at approximately 4:42 p.m. on September 2, officers were dispatched to the 1700 block of Highway 146 southbound feeder after getting reports of shots being fired and a man’s body being found on the shoulder of the road.

A man, who was out on bond for a murder charge, was arrested in Texas City on Sept. 1 for a robbery, according to the Texas City Police Department.

The identities of the passenger and driver have not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.
