This marks the second-straight TAPPS State Championship for The Woodlands Christian Academy. "I think it's just our will to win," Benigni said. Ad"I think we knew that was going to be the 5A expectation, every playoff game is earned in 5A," Field said. After pulling off a 64-52 victory over TMI-Episcopal, the Warriors rolled past St. Mary's Hall High School, 72-57, and then defeated St. Michael's, 44-31, to reach the TAPPS 5A State Championship game for the first time.

"Coming from a very uncertain time in track last year to cross country this year was a little shaky. Just coming into this final meet for me in cross country, it's nice to cap it off." Ben Shearer is the top finisher at the TAPPS 5A Boys Cross Country Meet!

The outing was highlighted by the girls team finishing second in the district. Ashlyn Miller led the girls team with a 2nd place finish, Annie Perry came in 5th, and Grace Delahoussaye finished 10th. Season best times were posted for Grace Delahoussaye, Mary Maggio, Lucy Simon, Denise Simon, Lauren Sharpless, and Anna Turner. Andrew Langley, Dustyn Bedia, Collin Dufrene, and Nathan Bartsch, Lucas Rivera, and Joseph Dinh all posted season best times in the race.

He won the Class 4A TAPPS individual title in October by over a minute to lead his team to its third- straight state title. His sister Hannah won two state titles for the Warriors back in 2014 and 2016. While Shearer is uber-talented, he knows what is the cornerstone of being a cross- country star. Shearer finished fifth at the Nike Cross-National South Regional Meet, before winning the 2020 Carl Lewis High School Indoor Invitational in the one-mile race.

"I think first and foremost it's good because it means we're having [a season]," Hollas said about the announcement. Hollas penned a letter to TAPPS officials recommending they start the season October 2, which is pretty much what TAPPS is going to do. Despite not getting a full 10-game regular season, Hollas said at least they are getting "an opportunity to play football". "They are still going to get an opportunity to be all-state and all-district and compete for a championship," Hollas said.

At TWCA, Jasek led her squad to the postseason and earned first-team, all- state honors in her senior campaign. While basketball will come to end at some point, Jasek is taking an interesting career path.

The first-team, all-district selection scored 20 of TWCA's eventual 43 goals scored for the year. Right behind Worthington in the goals category was Emma Shepperd, who also earned first-team honors. As TWCA shifts to a higher classification for the 2020-2021 season, Peterson said they will be young but they "have nothing to lose" against the traditional power programs they will face.
