The Woodlands Christian Academy successfully completed its jump up to TAPPS 5A by knocking off Fort Worth Christian 60-47 on Friday night at College Station High School for the program's seventh overall state championship. This marks the second-straight TAPPS State Championship for The Woodlands Christian Academy. "I think it's just our will to win," Benigni said. Ad"I think we knew that was going to be the 5A expectation, every playoff game is earned in 5A," Field said. After pulling off a 64-52 victory over TMI-Episcopal, the Warriors rolled past St. Mary's Hall High School, 72-57, and then defeated St. Michael's, 44-31, to reach the TAPPS 5A State Championship game for the first time.

On Monday, The Woodlands Christian Academy boys team captured its fourth-straight TAPPS Cross Country Team State Championship with 70 points and three runners finishing inside the Top 10. The group was led by Ben Shearer, who won his second-straight individual TAPPS State Championship, posting a time of 15:32. "Coming from a very uncertain time in track last year to cross country this year was a little shaky. Just coming into this final meet for me in cross country, it's nice to cap it off." Ben Shearer is the top finisher at the TAPPS 5A Boys Cross Country Meet!

Frassati Catholic Cross Country had a strong showing at the District Championships on Saturday, October 24, at The Woodlands Christian Academy. The outing was highlighted by the girls team finishing second in the district. Ashlyn Miller led the girls team with a 2nd place finish, Annie Perry came in 5th, and Grace Delahoussaye finished 10th. Season best times were posted for Grace Delahoussaye, Mary Maggio, Lucy Simon, Denise Simon, Lauren Sharpless, and Anna Turner. Andrew Langley, Dustyn Bedia, Collin Dufrene, and Nathan Bartsch, Lucas Rivera, and Joseph Dinh all posted season best times in the race.

The VYPE Media team traveled out to the The Woodlands Christian Academy earlier this year for the TWCA 2020 Fall Media Day. The athletes were socially-distanced and masked-up as VYPE captured images of the top football and volleyball players, cross country runners, cheerleaders and trainers. FOR BEN SHEARER, RUNNING IS A FAMILY TRADITION. He won the Class 4A TAPPS individual title in October by over a minute to lead his team to its third- straight state title. His sister Hannah won two state titles for the Warriors back in 2014 and 2016. While Shearer is uber-talented, he knows what is the cornerstone of being a cross- country star. Shearer finished fifth at the Nike Cross-National South Regional Meet, before winning the 2020 Carl Lewis High School Indoor Invitational in the one-mile race.

With me being here, it allows for his coaches to solely develop their athletes on the field. Walker played soccer at Bay Area Christian and in community college before finishing his exercise science degree at Baylor. Good teams have a plan and great teams have systems of development'," Walker said. "The things in life that are most impactful and enjoyable are the things you work hardest for," he said. With the TAPPS announcement of new start dates for its fall and winter sports on Friday, The Woodlands Christian Academy athletic director and his coaching staff's have a plan in place. "I think first and foremost it's good because it means we're having [a season]," Hollas said about the announcement. Hollas penned a letter to TAPPS officials recommending they start the season October 2, which is pretty much what TAPPS is going to do. Despite not getting a full 10-game regular season, Hollas said at least they are getting "an opportunity to play football". "They are still going to get an opportunity to be all-state and all-district and compete for a championship," Hollas said.

The year prior to LaStrap arriving, the Warriors had made the TAPPS Final Four but fell in the state semifinals. As LaStrap walked off the court one last time in February, he did so with a legacy cemented threestraight TAPPS Final Fours, three-straight title games and two state championships. "He has been a blessing to our basketball program and overall school community. "This is every high school basketball kid's dream, finishing off with a state championship," LaStrap said.

"I never really thought about playing basketball in college," she said. A college coach approached me after losing in the postseason and asked if I was playing in college? Jasek signed with Southwestern University in November and the rest is history. At TWCA, Jasek led her squad to the postseason and earned first-team, all- state honors in her senior campaign. While basketball will come to end at some point, Jasek is taking an interesting career path.

It was a clean sweep at the VYPE Awards as the Warriors was the Private School Team of the Year, Tanner Field was the Coach of the Year and Bakari LaStrap was the Player of the Year. VYPE caught up with Bakari LaStrap of TWCA on being named the Player of the Year. Despite the fact that the Warriors had no seniors, The Woodlands Christian Academy women's soccer team earned a playoff berth. "We capitalized on chemistry, on trust, on teamwork and that played big for us in our first season," Peterson said. The first-team, all-district selection scored 20 of TWCA's eventual 43 goals scored for the year. Right behind Worthington in the goals category was Emma Shepperd, who also earned first-team honors. As TWCA shifts to a higher classification for the 2020-2021 season, Peterson said they will be young but they "have nothing to lose" against the traditional power programs they will face.

What a night it was as the VYPE Awards were held virtually on Sunday. VYPE handed out awards to the top athletes in his and her respective sports. HOUSTON – A teacher at The Woodlands Christian Academy is accused of an inappropriate relationship with an 18-year-old female student, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities and school officials were notified of the accusations on Dec. 13, 2019. Cunningham was placed on administrative leave from the school, officials said in an email to parents. “The safety of our students is our top priority,” school officials wrote. Through training, policies and promoting a nurturing and professional culture at The Woodlands Christian Academy, our employees learn the high standards and expectations we have of them regarding their interactions with students.
