The Tomball Cougars have capped off their season in dominant fashion, taking down the Pearland Oilers to claim the 6A State Baseball Championship.

Head coach Doug Rush has the pitching machine set up just feet away from home plate. His players, who have not seen much failure in 2024, initially have some trouble adjusting to the perceived velocity.

The Tomball Cougars met the Klein Bearkats at Tomball ISD stadium on Friday night.

This past Friday night, the Tomball Cougars took on the Dawson Eagles at their home stadium. The Cougars ended up taking a win for the first time this season, with the game ending at 34-21.

Following a lengthy rain delay, last Friday night the Tomball Cougars played on Bulldog territory. The teams fought hard, but ultimately, the game ended in a Magnolia victory, 34-29. Heading into district games, Magnolia’s record now stands 1-1. Tomball’s record stands 0-2 as they have one non-district game remaining.

Last night the Tomball Cougars (10-3) upset the Rockwall-Heath Hawks (11-2) 35-21 punching Tomball’s ticket to the Regional Quarterfinals next Saturday at the brand new Tomball ISD Stadium.

The Tomball Cougars look like the real deal in 2021.

The Tomball Cougars won state eight years ago with timely hitting and a pair of under-recruited stars – Robert Dugger (Seattle Mariners) and Nick Banks (Washington Nats). Mason Marriott (Baylor) will play the role of Dugger, toeing the rubber, while Casen Neumann (Baylor) will be the big-stick like Banks. Hunter Collins (Hendrix College) will play the middle infield, while Peyton Fosher (Angelina College) will anchor the hot corner. The Cougars will be playoff-ready having battled Tomball Memorial, Klein Collins, Klein, and Oak throughout district play.
