The family of Maria Ramirez, a 59-year-old woman who was killed while her vehicle was stopped at a red light at the intersection on West Gulf Bank Road, is experiencing some relief after the man accused of shooting her was arrested.

Houston police are searching for a man who they say is wanted for questioning in connection to a deadly double shooting in northwest Houston earlier this month.

HOUSTON – An innocent driver is dead after someone ran a red light and struck her vehicle in northwest Houston Monday, police said. According to investigators, a woman, who has been identified as 28-year-old Lohortenes Sanders, was speeding through the red light after she hit a parked car. Police said a witness told them Sanders had an argument with someone in a nearby apartment complex. A witness told investigators Sanders ran the red light at the Antoine intersection and was struck by a gold-colored Chevrolet Malibu. Sanders was charged with criminally negligent homicide, but her charges could be upgraded if she was impaired, investigators said.
