District officials with Houston Independent School District announced they have unveiled a proposed academic calendar for the 2024-2025 school year.

Concordia Lutheran fared well at the District Tournament with both teams placing in the top five! The Girls team placed second overall, with Avery Csernik placing first individually, shooting an 89, and Abby Plagens placing fifth, shooting a 95. The Boys team placed fourth overall, with Carson Huwyler placing third individually, shooting a 75.

Down south in District 23-6A is an emerging baseball program under the direction of Chris Turner. It's a tough district with Pearland, Shadow Creek, and Strake Jesuit all chasing the crown, but it appears that Dawson is the deepest in talent. The Eagles have some history, now… Don't forget, Dawson reached State in 2014 and hopes to get back in the conversation with a balanced lineup. The infield will be on lock with Zachary Mack, Cole Sebok, Ross Mingarelli, Hayden Curry, and Hayden Winsdor across the diamond. It is awards season! As area districts see their last playoff teams eliminated, it is then time to release the all-district accolades. District 21-6A released their teams for their girls' squads. Summer Creek made the deepest run of the four playoff teams reaching the Regional Semifinals. Check out below who took home the top awards for the 2020-2021 season.

IN FOCUS: Shadow Creek keeps pace in district; drops PearlandShadow Creek and Dawson are in a race for the District 23-6A title and to keep pace, the Sharks had to take care of Pearland. They did just that winning 52-32 on Tuesday night. Check out the photos by Andy Tolbert.

On January 20, The Highlanders hosted Conroe in District play. The Woodlands came out on top by a final score of 72-51. The Highlanders are currently 15-5 and the Tigers are 6-11. Check out some of our favorite photos from the game!

The Atascocita Eagles Basketball team is ranked #2 in Texas Class 6A by TABC. They have posted a 14-0 record thus far this season, including a perfect 6-0 mark in District play. Nov. 3, 2020—The Bridgeland High School girls' and boys' cross country teams swept the District 16-6A titles at the Cross Country Championships, held Oct. 30 at Spring Creek Park in Tomball. For the Bridgeland girls, this is their third straight team championship after capturing two consecutive District 14-6A titles in 2018 and 2019, respectively. In District 17-6A, the Cypress Creek High School girls and the Cypress Ridge High School boys were the top-finishing teams among CFISD schools at their district championships, held Oct. 30 at Spring Creek Park in Tomball. The Bridgeland girls took six out of the top 10 spots, earning 17 points. The Bears finished in front of runner-up Cypress Woods High School (53) and third-place Cypress Ranch High School (71).

A cold, wet morning is predicted for the District 26- 5A race Wednesday morning in Seguin. Boerne Champion High School looks to defend the girl's State Champion title, and hopefully gain a boy's title as well this year. "The girls beat the 1-2-3 teams in the state so that was pretty good," Tate pointed out as a highlight of this season. It truly takes a healthy team to accomplish such a task as defending a State Title, but the Chargers are on the move to make it happen again. East Chambers rolled through district play going undefeated in 2019. The Bucs have reached at least the third round three times in a row and could make a state run in 2020. Coach Russ Sutherland returns 15 starters, so another district title is in the near future. The defense will be led by Ceasar at DB along with Brayden Guillory and Keyrin Green in the secondary. Buna and Anahuac will challenge for the district title, but it's the Bucs to lose.

After being officially cleared, Jace Wilson will guide the Mayde Creek offense in 2020 at quarterback. Coming to Mayde Creek isn't just Jace but also his father P.J., who will serve on Brian Randle's new staff as an assistant head coach and coach the receivers. "We are extremely excited to be at Mayde Creek and to he able to compete in this Katy District," P.J. Mayde Creek is coming off a historic season, where the Rams went 9-3, making the playoffs for the first time since 2008 and the nine victories mark the most since 1997. "We're looking so dynamic on offense and I can't wait to compete against some guys in another color," Jace said.

HOUSTON – The emergency medical service that serves approximately 900,000 residents in north and northwest Harris County was “fired” Thursday by the Emergency Service District that oversees it. Emergency Service District #11 board members said that Cypress Creek Emergency Medical Service had violated the terms of its contract and there were no dissenters during the vote. After that report was released, Cypress Creek EMS refunded more than $38,000 back to Emergency Service District #11. Emergency Service District #11 issued the following statement about the vote:“Today, Harris County Emergency Services District No. 11 (the “District”) voted to give Cypress Creek Emergency Medical Services (“CCEMS”) 360-days’ notice that the District is terminating its Service Agreement with CCEMS.
