Tonight, we have a follow-up to a story we first brought you earlier this week involving a massive pile of tree debris that had been lingering outside of a Garden Oaks home for around seven weeks following Hurricane Beryl.

On Wednesday, KPRC 2′s Deven Clarke spoke to a family in the Garden Oaks neighborhood of northwest Harris County, who was still dealing with a huge debris pile from Hurricane Beryl—more than 40 days after the tropical storm hit the Houston area.

It has been more than 40 days since Hurricane Beryl tore down trees throughout the Houston area, leading to huge piles of debris being left outside many homes.

CenterPoint Energy continues to repair its infrastructure from a double punch of the May derecho followed by Hurricane Beryl. But their work is turning some heads in the process.

HOUSTON – A beloved Garden Oaks restaurant got an outpouring of support Monday after it was ambushed over the weekend by a group protesting the mask ordinance. Video posted to YouTube shows several people carrying Trump flags and American flags marching in front of the restaurant chanting “Boycott Miller’s”. We’ve never taken a political stance here, we sell hamburgers,” said owner Jessica Beer, who now runs her family’s 41-year-old restaurant business. Surveillance video from inside the restaurant shows two members of the group go inside without masks on. Gremillion told them they needed to have a mask on and if they didn’t have one the restaurant could provide one.

You may be able to collect up to $4,000. KPRC 2 first reported the defective Vortens toilets in 2016. Consumer expert Amy Davis found the toilet tanks cracking in homes from The Woodlands to Pearland and Copperfield to Garden Oaks. It took two class-action lawsuits to get the company to settle and agree to pay homeowners with the defective toilets in their homes. Attorneys know there are about 300,000 of these toilets, but less than 1,500 people have filed claims so far.
