HOUSTON – With Thanksgiving travel in full swing, the Buc-ee’s in Katy is expecting an influx of customers.
According to AAA, about 54.3 million Americans are set to hit the road for the holiday, with 4.1 million in Texas alone.
Buc-ee’s is a favorite pit stop for people driving through the Lone Star State whether it be to use one of their notoriously clean bathrooms or stock up on their favorite Buc-ee’s snacks.
“When you’re a car traveler, a Buc-ee’s bathroom is where you go to,” said traveler Anne Degollado.
Degollado also said she can’t leave without picking up a bag of “the sweet and crunchy” Beaver Nuggets, which are among the best sellers for the gas station.
Even if you just need to get gas and keep going, the Katy location has 120 pumps that make stopping quick and easy.
General manager Brent Call says the store is prepared for the higher amount of people.
“We prepare for this all year to be honest with you,” Call said. “We order up a bit and we get extra staff in because we want to make sure we have what you want.”
Other than Beaver Nuggets, people can pick up a variety of food including their popular brisket sandwiches, kolaches, fudge and even beef jerky.
Call says no matter what people want, the store is ready for the holidays.
Employees are free to take on additional shifts and they order more inventory for the rush.
“During the holiday, we up it two to three times, whatever it takes,” Call said.
As always, be sure to allot extra time for any mishaps, traffic or pit stops to Buc-ee’s.
