Trans Texas artist's life behind bars inspires documentary film 'Love, Jamie'

Film Director Karla Murthy chats about her documentary 'Love, Jamie' that highlights the life, art, and incarceration of trans artist Jamie Diaz.  After serving nearly 30 years in prison for a robbery conviction related to drug addiction, Jamie was released on parole on May 31st, 2024. The documentary chronicles a deep pen pal friendship forged while Jamie was behind bars and how that friendship ultimately resulted in a New York City solo art show of Jamie's work. 'Love, Jamie' is now available to stream as part of the American Masters series on PBS.
