Tonight’s threat - ice on bridges & overpasses:

We have major impacts with our weather today through Wednesday morning. We’ll start to see the wintry mix that has been moving through the area for most of the day will wind down tonight but temps haven’t gotten above freezing all day. This will compound problems tonight as bridges and overpasses that have iced over will stay icy through the night.

Tonight’s threat - dangerous wind chills:

Second, wind chills range from 5°-10° this morning in our northern cities. Late tonight through noon Tuesday the rest of southeast will fall in this range. Wind chill warnings go into effect when the feels like number goes below 0°. We are not expecting it to get this cold.

Tuesday & Wednesday morning threats:

A hard freeze warning goes into effect at midnight through Wednesday morning. Temperatures go below 24° Tuesday & Wednesday morning. Sensitive plants will likely not survive if they have not been covered or brought into a shelter.

10-Day forecast:

We get out of the 30s Wednesday afternoon. We’re tracking another cold front Friday. This will bring more freezing temperatures next weekend, but it won’t be as drastic as what we have now. The following week will be warmer but does look to stay stormy for the beginning of the week.
