What?
After a quiet, cloudy and warm week overall, we’re shifting gears by tracking a storm system that will bring in multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms starting Friday through the weekend.
When?
The first wave looks to bring in a threat of some strong storms and heavy downpours Friday afternoon into the evening. Below is the timing on the first wave, then the two additional waves coming in for Saturday and Sunday.
How much rain?
There is some disagreement between the American and the European models (both of our long-range models) about how much rain we may see, however, if the front stalls into the weekend, there is a good chance to see multiple inches of rain across a small area. Below is the example of the American model, which is more bullish on the stalled front, leading to a more heavy rain set up scenario.
Bottom Line:
Friday’s storms look to be a good bet for at least a messy afternoon/evening, however, I wouldn’t be shocked to see them speed up into parts of the afternoon. Our short-range models update frequently, so make sure to check back in often the rest of this week.
As for the weekend rain, I would make sure to have some indoor plans set aside both days in case the heavier rain amounts prove to be correct. These models will also update daily.
Have a plan and make sure to check in with the Stormtracker 2 team, we’ll be tracking any changes for the rest of the week!
