Thursday’s Forecast:
Our weather pattern changes Thursday. An area of high pressure dries out most of southeast Texas. There could be a stray storm along our coastal cites but the rest of us will be hot, humid and dry. Temperatures climb to the mid-90s with a heat index between 100°-104°.
Rain returns on Father’s Day:
Our forecast keeps us dry and hot Friday and Saturday. Rain chances ramp back up Sunday after 1PM.
Tracking the tropics:
We are watching two tropical disturbances that have a chance to become our first named storms this hurricane season. Storms over Florida have a 20% chance of becoming a tropical system as it moves northeast away from the United States into the western Atlantic basin. Even without a name, cruise lines need to be aware systems like these can create havoc on the water.
Gulf of Mexico:
The same area of tropical moisture from the Caribbean will send out a second wave of storms into the western Gulf of Mexico Saturday. This system could bring rain to Houston as early at Sunday afternoon. Here’s my take. The stronger this system gets, the less rain we’ll receive. If it remains disorganized, we could be looking at some coastal cities getting 6″ of rain. We’ll continue to watch this system and let you know how it’s going to affect us.
10-Day Forecast:
Lots of happenings on this 10-day forecast. Flag day is incredibly hot. Most of Father’s day looks dry but our first wave of rain may arrive at night. Juneteenth may be stormy along with the first day of summer Thursday.
