Stormy Forecast:

We’ve been tracking showers and storms across SE Texas. These storms are diurnal (the opposite of nocturnal) which means they thrive in the heat of the day. These storms will all dissipate around sunset tonight. Take a look at our current radar below.

Tonight’s Forecast:

Tonight will be similar to the past several nights. Temperatures will gradually fall through the 80s into the mid-70s.

By Friday morning temperatures will be in the mid-70s. This is the most comfortable time to be outside!

Friday’s Forecast:

Friday will be hot and humid with highs in the lower 90s. Factor in the humidity and it will feel like the lower triple digits. There is a heat alert in place through 8PM for our eastern counties. Please be careful while cleaning up outside. Listen to your body and take breaks in the shade. Drink water. If you need help cooling down, cooling centers are activated across Houston.

When’s is any major relief coming?

Unfortunately, it’s the middle of July in Houston, so any long-term relief will not come until October when we typically get our first real fall cold front. Our average highs don’t drop below 90 until the end of September. The only chance for a cool down is from a sea breeze thunderstorm. Those are isolated and short lived. But it’s better than being day and hot all day.

Tracking the tropics:

There is no tropical activity in the Gulf, Caribbean or Atlantic Ocean. The only spot to watch is a cluster of storms off the coast of northern Florida. A few models have this becoming Debby, but the chance is low.

Whether it develops or not it will there will be heavy rain in the southeast to end the week.

10-day Forecast:

For those that don’t have power, it will be very uncomfortable until the power comes back on. Rain chances pick up a bit for the next few days which may bring a little relief but the humidity won’t be going anywhere. Otherwise, we’re set up for more intense summer heat and drying out going into next week.
