Tonight’s Forecast:
Showers and storms popped up midday Wednesday. These storms will mostly dissipate before more storms move in early Thursday morning. Check out our current radar below.
Thursday’s Forecast:
Thursday will start out stormy as we track a cold front pushing through the state. This will first bring storms to our NW counties by 4AM in the morning.
These storms will continue to push towards the SE with storms entering Harris County by 7AM. This will mean a messy commute, plan for extra time.
The storms will advance towards the coast by 9AM. The storms can bring frequent lightning strikes and the threat for street flooding.
The front will stall:
Our front is expected to stall in SE Texas, increasing rain chances starting Thursday and continuing into Saturday.
Rain chances will go up quickly by Thursday and likely stay elevated because a front will stall out across the region.
Although it is a cold front, consider the temperature difference minimal but noticeable- instead of being in the 90s, we’ll drop to the upper 80s. to low 90s.
Tracking the tropics:
There is no tropical activity in the Gulf, Caribbean or Atlantic Ocean. The Saharan dust has been very heavy across much of the tropical Atlantic and that is keeping things very quiet.
Another factor in keeping the tropics quiet is huge plums of Saharan dust that are helping to snuff out any development from tropical waves at this point.
10-day Forecast:
We have heavy downpours likely from Friday to Friday, but it will not be a washout. Instead, you can expect to see on-and-off periods of heavy rainfall. This rainfall can lead to street flooding. The increase in rain means lower than normal temperatures!
