This Weekend’s Forecast:
HOUSTON – This weekend is going to be HOT! Afternoon temperatures climb to the upper-90s in Houston with a heat index of 108° to a 110°. The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory today through Saturday at 7pm.
Storms possible Saturday night:
Storms from a front are expected to move into our area late Saturday. The front doesn’t make it through but the storms move in between 5pm and 10pm.
The storms will drop from the north to the south. The storms will likely reach the Houston area around sunset.
By 11PM Saturday a lot of these storms will begin to fizzle out.
Tracking the tropics:
The National Hurricane Center is issuing advisories on what will become Tropical Storm Debby. The forecast calls for a Tropical Depression by Saturday afternoon and becoming Tropical Storm Debby Saturday night to Sunday morning. Landfall could be anywhere on the western coast of Florida. Tampa Bay can expect at least 3 feet of storm surge. The SE Coast will also see tropical storm impacts. heavy rainfall and gusty winds are expected.
Remember, the forecast cone shows us the forecast for the center of the tropical system. Often storms are very large which means we can see rain bands far away from the center. This means even locations near the cone will likely feel impacts.
Tropical storm warnings are in place for portions of the southwestern coast of the Florida peninsula from East Cape Sable to Bonita Beach. A tropical storm watch is in place for the Florida Keys.
It is possible portions of coastal North and South Carolina could see 6-12″ through the middle of next week.
10-day Forecast:
Some rainfall is possible Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Most of the next 10 days will be dominated by heat and humidity.
