HOUSTON – Although the NWS hasn’t issued a heat alert, stay mindful to prevent heat-related illness. Aim to drink ½ of your body weight in fluid ounces of hydrating fluid (decaffeinated and non-alcoholic) daily.
Foods with a high water content are great to eat during these hot summer days to help keep you hydrated. Some of the highest water-containing foods include watermelon, strawberries, cantaloupe, peaches, oranges, cucumber, and lettuce!
Tracking the tropics:
Tropical Storm Debby is continuing to bring heavy rainfall to the SE. Debby’s slow speed is bringing catastrophic flooding to South Carolina. Debby may bring 15-20 inches of rain to some areas on the coast.
Another tropical wave is developing in the Atlantic. It has a 20% chance of developing over the next 7 days. Wind shear and lots of land in its path will severely limit intensification. Our hot high pressure area steers this tropical wave to Mexico.
10-day Forecast:
Extremely hot temperatures are with us through Friday. Our average for this time of year is 96°. We are well above this through Friday. Next week the high weakens a little lowering temperatures and giving us a small chance of rain next week.
