HOUSTON – Friday’s Forecast:
Our heat advisory has been extended through 8PM Friday. We will feel up to 110° at the heat of the day. If you are fortunate enough to get an isolated thunderstorm temperatures will lower a tad. Otherwise temps climb to the upper-90s and it will feel like 108°-111°.
Tracking The Tropics:
Hurricane Ernesto continues to move north through the Western Atlantic. The forecast has Ernesto continuing to strengthen into the weekend before getting close to Bermuda Saturday. Ernesto will not be a direct hit to the United States but it will bring dangerous seas along the east coast with strong rip currents. This will not impact the Gulf Coast.
Other than Hurricane Ernesto there are no storms brewing in the Atlantic basin over the next seven days.
No Relief Coming From The Heat:
Unfortunately, the answer for us here across the South is no. The strong high pressure ridge will dominate our weather pattern for the rest of August. So expect mid to upper 90s through the end of August. If you’re looking for some relief, you’ll need to head up to the Midwest. Highs will be in the 60s and 70s by the end of the month!
10-day Forecast:
Temperatures climb to the triple digits this weekend. Our storm chances will become much lower with only a 10% chance over the weekend. The chance for storms will be exclusively our far coastal counties.
