Saturday’s Forecast:
HOUSTON – Saturday at noon the Texans take on the L.A. Rams and the forecast should be slightly better. Although it will be hot, we are below the heat advisory criteria. At 9AM we will be in the mid-80s and feeling like the lower-90s.
When the game ends, temperatures across SE Texas will be HOT. Highs will be in the mid-to-upper 90s with heat index values between 100° and 105°.
Pattern Change:
As we approach Sunday, we’ll finally start to see some shifting from the hot high pressure ridge baking Texas as it retreats into the Central Plains. We’ll be tracking a surface low sliding in from the eastern side of the Gulf that will pull a lot of deeper tropical moisture with it.
As the moisture moves in, we’ll flip the script on our sizzling forecast this week and turn up the rain chances for most of next week. Expect to see some heavy downpours at times each afternoon.
Tracking The Tropics:
No tropical activity is expected in the next 7-days in the Atlantic. The next named storm will be Francine, but this is not likely within the next seven days.
10-day Forecast:
Our weather pattern changes next week. Tropical moisture moves in, lowering temperatures and increasing rain chances. Day 9 is the first day of September.
If you’re seeking out cooler weather, we do expect a gradual cooling in the month of September. Our average high drops to 88° by the end of the month. Our average low drops to 67° - thank goodness!
Even though we expect our temperatures to cool seasonally, the Climate Prediction Center expects most of the United States to be above average through the month. As a reminder our latest 100° day was September 27th after Hurricane Rita.
