Enjoy Sunday’s sunshine before a tropical disturbance tracks closer to Houston

Watching tropical development in the Gulf

Houston goes from dry and sunny to a influx of tropical rains.
Sunday’s Forecast:

HOUSTON – Sunday, make plans outside as dew points drop even lower, making for a comfortable end to the weekend.

Morning temperatures are in the 60s and low 70s, and sunny skies will bring highs to the upper 80s and low 90s. This is great weather if you are hosting a Texans watch party.

Plenty of sunshine with low humidity

Tracking The Tropics:

A low in the southern Gulf of Mexico has a 80% chance of developing into a tropical system over the next seven days and a 60% over the next two days.

80% chance this area of disturbed weather will form into a tropical depression or tropical storm.

Most data shows that this will work its way north into the Texas Coast, turning east towards the Texas Louisiana border. If the system develops, it will be called Francine.

Mid-week the storm begins to turn east.
Models have a good consensus that the storm's center will make landfall east of Houston.

If this storm doesn’t develop, southeast Texas will still see days of rain that may lead to flooding. Some coastal areas could pick up 7 inches, and the metro area up to 5 inches. Farther inland rain will be less impactful.

Heaviest rain projected near the coast

10-day Forecast:

Cool mornings with low humidity will continue through Tuesday. By midweek, humidity levels will start to climb, and rain chances will increase as well.
