Texans Tailgate Forecast:

HOUSTON – For the home opener, the Texans are kicking off home in style on Sunday Night Football! Tailgating for the game will be toasty in the lots. Expect the mid-90s setting up the tailgate and with high humidity, it’ll feel like the triple digits. By kick-off, temperatures will be in the upper 80s. If you can’t make it out to NRG Sunday, you can watch the Texans on KPRC for Sunday Night Football!

There is a slight chance of rain and storms. A few light showers are possible in the early morning, and then on Sunday evening, showers and storms develop north of I-10 and west of 45 north. The rain will move SE into Harris County, so we can’t rule out raindrops by the start of the game. By the end of the game, rain will be along the coast.

Dry for for Houston.
Shower and storm chances possible in Houston.
Rain chances move SE, out to the coast.

Tracking the Tropics:

The tropics are active, as we expect to see in mid-September but thankfully there is no threat to the Gulf Coast. Tropical Storm Gordon is 4,000 miles away in the eastern Atlantic and not a threat to the US at this time. Otherwise, we’ll watch the area of interest off the Carolina coastline through the weekend as it may try to spin up a storm.

Storm will stay far away from the United States

There is also one region with a medium chance for development near the Carolinas. This is not a threat to the Gulf Coast.

The east coast could see a tropical system develop over this week.
10-day Forecast:

After Sunday, just a few sea-breeze showers are possible. Otherwise, we stay dry. Highs will be in the 90s, but morning lows will be comfortable in the mid-70s!

Heat sticks around through the 10 Day period.
