Rain Chances Return:

The Texas panhandle is seeing fall temperatures as a cold front moves south. The front has also triggered severe thunderstorms across Amarillo. You can track radar and temperatures here:

Will SE Texas get that push of cool air? The answer is no.

The cold front will likely fall apart before clearing Houston, so there will be no drastic refreshing drop in temperatures or humidity. The front paired will aid in a few spotty showers on Monday.

Two cold fronts will bring in rain chances but no cooler air.

Another cold front develops behind that first weak front, bringing another chance for showers and storms.

Tracking the Tropics:

Happening now, we’re watching disorganized showers and thunderstorms located over northwestern Caribbean Sea and portions of Central America. Right now it looks to have potential impacts on the Florida to Louisiana coastlines.

Right now, we’re still watching the jet stream which looks to be a stronger one - putting the area of concern and possible impact Louisiana to Florida.

Since we have a 40% chance for development in the next 2 days and an 80% development in the next 7 days - we still have uncertainty with the forecast.

Right now, the NHC is calling it Disturbance 2 which will be named Helene once formed.

One factor in whether it moves east or west will be how strong a trough in the jet stream is.

If it is weaker, it will push a bit more to the west. If the jet is stronger, it will sweep it to the east - keeping the path closer to Florida. Right now, most of the models are in pretty good agreement with the development of a strong trough and all indications are that this storm will stay to the east of Texas.
