Tonight Forecast:
HOUSTON – Tonight we are mild and muggy with temperatures falling through the 80s. Overnight lows will drop into the mid-70s.
Track Our Cold Front:
We’re tracking an approaching cold front that is bringing showers and storms across the state with cooler temps already arriving into the panhandle. If you’re traveling across the state, you can track radar and temperatures here:
Tuesday’s Forecast:
The cold front will finally bring back our first rain chances back into the forecast in quite some time. As the front slowly crawls into our region, we’ll see more widespread storms breaking out Tuesday and Wednesday.
Highs will still be in the 90s until the rain moves in.
Tracking the Tropics:
We’re continuing to watch a strengthening cluster of tropical thunderstorms that is attempting to organize in the Caribbean early this week. The cluster has been officially called Potential Tropical Cyclone #9 and will likely become HELENE this week.
The forecast has been showing a strengthening. Right now the forecast calls for a major category 3 hurricane to make landfall near Tallahassee Thursday afternoon.
This week’s cold front AND the strong trough (or dip in the Jetstream) that will pull it across the US are both factors to help block the storm from Texas and also provides a more concrete path for the storm to be steered towards the FL Panhandle.
10-day Forecast:
Stormy weather returns Tuesday and Wednesday as the front passes through, then we’re getting a nice little taste of fall with highs in the 80s and 60s for the morning! We’ll warm up quickly again by next weekend.
