HOUSTON – One person is dead after a suspected drunken driver crashed his Corvette into the back of a Kia Soul, authorities said.

The crash was reported at 12:20 a.m. Saturday on the North Freeway feeder road near Remington Valley.

Authorities said the yellow Corvette, driven by a man in his 40s, was traveling at a high rate of speed on the North Freeway feeder road and slammed into the back end of the Kia.

There were two adults in the Kia.

Authorities said the woman who was driving the crossover vehicle was taken to a hospital in serious, but stable condition. A man who was a passenger in the Kia died at the scene.

Authorities said the driver of the Corvette was not hurt, but he was found to be intoxicated and was arrested.

The driver of the Corvette faces intoxication manslaughter charges, authorities said.
