10-year-old girl shot in face in apparent road-rage incident

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – A gunman shot a 10-year-old girl in an apparent road rage incident in northwest Harris County, according to deputies.

People who live and work near Antoine and Beltway 8 were uneasy after deputies said a gunman shot a 10-year-old girl at about 8 p.m. Thursday.

"That's scary," business owner Henry Conway said.

"Something is wrong with his mind. A normal person don't act like that," Frank Richardson aid.

Deputies said the girl was riding in a Jeep with her mom and two other children and a man in a Cadillac Coupe Deville hit their SUV and kept driving. The 32-year-old mother followed behind and when she pulled up next to him, deputies said he pointed a gun out the window and shot at the Jeep twice.

"That wasn't right for her to do that because he could've stopped and really hurt her," said Conway.

The bullet grazed her 10-year-old daughter's cheek.

"You (going) run into the back of somebody, and they're going follow you, you're not going to stop and start shooting. I think that's very wrong," said Richardson.

The girl's shooter had not been caught.

Richardson said until then, he'll do things differently.

"I'm going to have to have my gun, too. If someone (runs) into the back of me and (doesn't) stop, I'm going to go get their license plates. They start shooting, I'm going to start shooting, too," Richardson said.

Deputies said the shooter was driving a beige Cadillac Coupe Deville with front-end damage on the driver's side.
