Driver, horse killed in accident in northwest Houston

HOUSTON – A driver and a horse were killed in an accident in northwest Houston Sunday night.

Officers said a man was driving a Chevy Tahoe westbound in the 900 block of West Little York Road near Knox Street about 8:10 p.m. when he struck a man riding a horse.

The rider was thrown from the horse's back.

The SUV left the roadway, then ran into a fence and a pole.  The SUV driver was rushed to Ben Taub Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The rider was also taken to Ben Taub Hospital, but with non-life threatening injuries.

The horse died at the scene.
