28 neglected horses seized on Jamaica Beach

Horses now in the care of Habitat for Horses

JAMAICA BEACH, Texas – Habitat for Horses, an equine sanctuary in Hitchcock, is caring for 28 neglected horses seized from a business on Jamaica Beach.

The horses were found in a large pen and picked up on Tuesday. They were malnourished and losing their hair. The animals are normally used by a horseback riding business, S-n-G Horseback Riding.

The owner of that business, Terri Glenn, was arrested Tuesday. She is charged with cruelty to livestock animals and is being held in lieu of $7,500 bond. A hearing is scheduled in 10 days to determine whether Glenn can keep her horses.

The owner of Habitat for Horses told Local 2 that the horses were eating a lot on Thursday. Some of the horses are in bad shape, and all are extremely underweight.

The Galveston Police Department plans on filing additional charges but is waiting to complete its investigation.
