HOUSTON – A Humble woman is charged with aggravated kidnapping after investigators say she demanded $2,000 in exchange for the return of her friend's son.
According to Harris County court documents, Alicia Sam asked a friend to take her to cash her $2,000 income tax check Saturday.
Sam later claimed she left the money in the friend's car, but the woman said it wasn't there and she didn't have it.
Sunday Sam and another woman showed up at the family's Channelview home demanding the money.
That's when the friend's 3-year-old autistic son ran outside the house and was picked up by another woman who put him in the car with Sam and drove off.
Later Sunday authorities say Sam made a ransom call, asking the family to bring $2,000 to a McDonald's in the 6600 block of Tidwell.
With the help of law enforcement, the family made the money drop and got the boy back, but Sam drove away before deputies could catch her.
By Monday afternoon, Sam was in custody and being held at the Harris County Jail on $30,000 bond.
