HOUSTON – Houston-native and music icon Beyoncé Knowles-Carter is no stranger to giving back to her community. And she’s done it again after she announced that her foundation will be giving deserving cosmetology students in our area a chance to chase their dreams.
Announced by the BeyGOOD Foundation, the new initiative will help to provide financial support to five esteemed beauty schools nationwide, with the Franklin Institute in Houston being one of the honored recipients.
The Franklin Institute is set to receive the prestigious scholarship thanks to the collaborative efforts of the BeyGOOD Foundation and the Cécred Fund, aimed at empowering the stylist community.

The owner of the Franklin Institute, Ron Jemison Jr., shared how honored he feels to be chosen as the exclusive cosmetology school scholarship partner for Beyoncé's hometown.
Jemison also highlighted the special connection with Ms. Tina, Beyoncé's renowned mother and stylist, who got her cosmetology license from the Franklin Institute back in the 80s. This recognition holds particular significance as the institute celebrates a century of service and excellence in training the Houston community.
Aligned with the launch of Beyoncé’s innovative hair care line, Cécred, the collaboration between her brand and the BeyGOOD Foundation aims to award 25 scholarships worth $10,000 each to deserving students enrolled in or accepted to prominent beauty academies.
Alongside the Franklin Institute, other institution recipients include the Beaver Beauty Academy in Atlanta, the Janas Cosmetology Academy in New Jersey, the Trenz Beauty Academy in Chicago, and the Universal College of Beauty in Los Angeles.
Aspiring candidates for the Cécred x BeyGOOD Student Scholarship are invited to apply by March 20.
