In response to increased thefts targeting Hyundais over the past two years, Hyundai is holding a special event this weekend offering anti-theft upgrades.

The Highway Loss Data Institute reports a staggering increase of over 1000% in theft insurance claims from 2020 to 2023. In 2023, over 11 out of every 1000 insured Hyundais were stolen, more than seven times higher than other car manufacturers. Many of these targeted Hyundai cars lack even the most basic auto theft prevention technology.
To address this, owners of 2010-2021 Hyundai vehicles can receive a free anti-theft upgrade this weekend at Greenspoint Mall, located at 12300 North Freeway. The event will take place on Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and on Sunday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., with no appointment necessary.

In addition to the anti-theft upgrade, the Houston Police Department will also be distributing free steering wheel locks.
