After meeting with Cooper and the juvenile, the man said the juvenile pointed a handgun at him and demanded all his money. The man said he did as he was asked.

Cooper and the juvenile then demanded everything the man had in his vehicle, according to investigators.

When the man returned to his vehicle, he grabbed his own handgun and fired two rounds, authorities said.

Cooper was shot twice in the abdomen, authorities said.

The juvenile fled on foot, but was quickly apprehended, authorities said. He was arrested and charged with robbery as well.

"Derek Cooper was arrested and charged with robbery. He is presently in the hospital and will be booked into the Harris County Jail upon his release. The juvenile was arrested, charged with robbery and booked into the Harris County Juvenile Detention Center," Constable Mark Herman said.
