HOUSTON – Passengers reported seeing a scorpion on the plane they were boarding at Bush Intercontinental Airport on Thursday.
The United Airlines flight was supposed to leave from Houston and land in Quito, Ecuador, but the passengers were forced off the plane.
They eventually were put on a plane and departed for their destination.
The pilot made the announcement to get off the plane, passengers said.
No scorpion was found, according to passengers.
All passengers were provided with a meal voucher from United Airlines.
Here is a statement from United Airlines:
"Houston to Quito flight 1035 returned to the gate after a scorpion reportedly emerged from a customer’s clothing. Paramedics at the gate immediately examined the customer and determined that he had not been stung. The customer declined further medical treatment and, as a precaution, a new aircraft was arranged. We provided all passengers with a meal voucher due to the delay and the flight, with the customer aboard, has departed for Quito."
