Police seek public's help solving drug deal slaying

HOUSTON – Houston police say they need the public's help identifying the person who killed a man during a drug transaction in northwest Houston last May.

Investigators said Jeffery Norrod was shot about 11:30 p.m. on May 26 while driving his vehicle in a parking lot at the Costa Vizcaya Apartments in the 12000 block of North Gessner Road in Houston.

Police said Norrod was taken to Ben Taub General Hospital where he later died.

Investigators said a witness came forward and told officers he was a passenger in the truck and was doing a drug transaction with the victim. The witness said both men were in the truck when gunfire struck Norrod and the truck. Investigators said Norrod tried to drive off but hit two parked vehicles.

Authorities said a similar type of shooting incident had occurred at the same location several days earlier. A vehicle similar to the complainant's vehicle was involved and could be related to this case, investigators said.

Detectives said the case is still open pending new leads.

Crime Stoppers will pay up to $5,000 for information leading to the charging or arrest of Norrod's killer.
Anyone with information is asked to call 713-222-TIPS (8477) or submit it online at www.crime-stoppers.org.
