Homeowner fatally shot suspected burglar in west Houston, deputies say

HOUSTON – A homeowner fatally shot a burglar Sunday morning in west Houston, police said.

The shooting was reported about 4:45 a.m. in the 8200 block of Malin Court.

Fort Bend County deputies said a homeowner was getting a glass of water when he looked at his surveillance cameras and saw a man breaking into his vehicles.

Investigators said the homeowner went outside to confront the man and told him to stop.

The homeowner saw items from his vehicle in the man's hands, deputies said.

He said the burglar moved his hands toward his pocket. Not knowing if the man was grabbing something, the homeowner shot him about three times, deputies said.

Deputies said the burglar was unarmed. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The homeowner will not be facing charges, investigators said.
