LA MARQUE, Texas – Hundreds of memorabilia items from the classic film "E.T." are up for auction at a La Marque comic book store.
The more than 700 items include everything from "E.T."
Chips Ahoy! Cookies and "E.T." tennis shoes, to an "E.T." audiobook narrated by Michael Jackson.
The collection once belonged to Charles Sanders, who was an audio visual teacher at The Kincaid School in Houston. Sanders passed away in February 2013.
Last March his sister donated his collection to the non-profit organization called Better Parks for Galveston.
TJ Anderson of Better Parks for Galveston is now auctioning off the items at Toxic City Comics at 15033 Delany Road.
All of the money raised will help build Galveston a community pool.
"Galveston Island has never had a community pool; we have all been working as a community to get one built and it benefits everyone, but most of all kids," Anderson said.
Over the past several months she has been cataloging the items.
She estimates the entire collection is worth between $7,000 and $9,000.
"He seems to have had just about everything that was ever printed with ET on it," Anderson said.
Some of the items, such as an E.T. jigsaw puzzle, cost $30.
Other items such as a life-sized plastic molding of "E.T." can go for $500.
The silent auction will take place at Toxic City Comics until 8 p.m. Thursday and from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday
